Typical Training Day
A Day With Todd - Tue 6th May 2008 4. 20PM
I will walk you through a typical day here at the training center. The date is Mon May 5, 2008.
8:00 AM - Wake up call, this is also when I take my daily thyroid medication. Sometimes I will hit snooze for 30 minuets or so.
8:30 - 9:00 AM - Time for breakfast. I usually try to eat an our before training.
9:30 - 12:30 PM - First training session for the day. The time depends on the work load. We are in the final stages of preparation for USA Championships so today we only practiced for an hour and a half. Our practice included legs and mid-section circuits to get going, and basics on all of the events.
12:30 - 3:00 PM - Break. Today we finished early so I laid out with Dave Durante. It is important to get some sun exposure to have enough Vitamin D, especially because we train indoors. After soaking up the sun I ate lunch, and got ready for the afternoon training session.
3:00 - 3:30 PM Training Room. I usually go in 30 minutes early so I can get treatment before practice. Today was fun, not really because I had a bet with one of our Athletic Trainers that the Houston Rockets would win their first round match against the Jazz. To hold up my side I had to make an announcement in front of everyone in sports medicine. "Tracy McGrady is the best player ever to not make it out of the first round of the playoffs."
It was for fun though.
3:30 - 6:30 PM Afternoon Training. Tonight's practice was just to get the week going. I went to three events, and did every skill from my routines one time. On Pommel Horse I did half routines. This practice was also shorter than usual because of the work load. I got to eat dinner earlier than usual, at 6:30PM.
7:00 - 7:30 - Recovery Room. A few times a week we get recovery massages. Every Monday night I get a 30 minuet massage. We also have hot and cold tubs, the cold is 52 degrees. We have sauna, steam rooms, and even heated yoga available.
7:30 - 8:30 - Dinner Time. This is the time I usually eat, although I ate early tonight so I decided to go visit a friend. On occasion I go into the office after dinner to get some work done. TC logiq really understands what we go through as athletes so they allow me to work when I can. Everything I do is online so a lot of times I just got to my room put music on, and knock out some code.
Well, that is a typical training day for me. The next edition will be more specific to the actual day I am recording.
